The New York Jets are looking to hire their next head coach, and on Monday, fans strongly urged the team to consider a former player and top candidate. Aaron Glenn, the defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, made a name for himself in New York during the 1990s, and after another successful season in Detroit, he has emerged as a noteworthy figure in the coaching carousel. The Jets have already interviewed Glenn and are planning a second meeting this week. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, “DC Aaron Glenn, one of the top coaching candidates, is set for an in-person, second interview with the Jets.”
#Lions DC Aaron Glenn, one of the top coaching candidates, is set for an in-person, second interview with the #Jets, per me and @MikeGarafolo.
Glenn will have options, and his first visit to the team that drafted him, where he became an All-Pro, is significant. pic.twitter.com/5H9odk33Qp

Drafted by the Jets in 1994, Glenn spent nine seasons with the team, establishing a strong rapport with the fanbase. His coaching performance in recent years has demonstrated he deserves a head coaching position. Earlier this offseason, he was in the news for declining an interview with the New England Patriots, dissatisfied with how they managed their coaching situation following the dismissal of Jerod Mayo after just one year. Since the 2021 NFL season, Glenn has been working under Dan Campbell with the Lions.
Jets fans are excited about the prospect of Glenn being hired. Comments on social media reflect this sentiment:
Woody, don’t let him out the building. Get Riddick. Give them time, and don’t do something stupid. (ie Trade for Aaron Rodgers) https://t.co/ZFueLVGo2b

Aaron Glenn is the modern version of what everyone thinks they want by wanting Rex back, for the record. Fully on-board with bringing Glenn home. And NO, I don’t care about what happened on Saturday. https://t.co/LPDsVIGonK

If he’s the Jets top candidate then they can’t let him go to the Saints interview. Let’s see how this plays out…. https://t.co/FiEIIqD0j5
