Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States on Monday, marking only the second time in U.S. history that a president has been elected to two non-consecutive terms. His return to the Oval Office and comments generated strong reactions from both sides of the aisle, prompting many Americans to express their views through social media, comments on news articles, and calls to C-SPAN.
One caller in particular, “Graham in Jersey City,” wanted to ensure his voice was heard on this historic day, albeit not on the topic the hosts were anticipating. As footage of politicians and dignitaries entering the Capitol Rotunda was shown, he shared his thoughts live on air.

“Hi, I wanna wish everyone a Happy MLK Day. Hope everyone is staying warm. I’m a bit disappointed with how the election turned out; it would have been great to see a female president inaugurated today,” the caller began. “While I’m upset with the American people’s choice to see another four years of Trump, I’m even more disappointed in the selection committee for not picking Alabama for the College Football Playoff finals and instead choosing inferior teams like SMU and Indiana. Truly dark times in America,” he concluded before the hosts interrupted to steer the conversation back on track. Man, the way Graham seems to disdain the College Football Playoff and Cinderella programs’ chances, you’d think he works for ESPN.
