Jets Proceeding with Former Ohio State Coach

The New York Jets are on the lookout for a new head coach following their split with Robert Saleh earlier this year. They seem to be focusing on Jeff Hafley, who gained prominence during his tenure with the Ohio State Buckeyes. Hafley became the co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach at Ohio State in 2019, where he transformed a struggling secondary into the best in the nation. Under his leadership, Ohio State led the country in passing defense and produced two first-round draft picks: Jeff Okudah and Damon Arnette.

After just one successful season with the Buckeyes, Hafley transitioned to the head coach of the Boston College Eagles, where he faced challenges before becoming the defensive coordinator of the Green Bay Packers this season, where he has since improved the team’s defense significantly. Now, the Jets are progressing with their interview process for Hafley as they search for their next head coach. “We have completed an interview with Jeff Hafley for our Head Coach position,” the team posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

While there are several other candidates in the race for the vacant position, it is evident that Hafley is being seriously considered, especially given his track record throughout his coaching career.
